From Thinking to Doing.
Hi friends,
It’s easy to get stuck in the thought loops—endlessly analyzing and overthinking. I know because I’ve been there since 2019, constantly torn between different paths—whether to study Medicine, Computer Science, or something else? I couldn’t get myself to settle for one.
Even after settling on what I truly wanted to do, the hesitation didn’t completely disappear. I still found myself overthinking decisions, waiting for the “perfect” moment to act. But the truth is, action beats endless thinking every time.
The 3-Second Rule
Recently, I came across a simple approach that changed everything: when an idea or decision comes up, I count to three—1, 2, 3—and then act. No more hesitation, no more second-guessing.
It all started as a fun experiment. Every time I saw an attractive woman I wanted to approach, I’d count 1-2-3, then walk straight to her. At first, it was nerve-wracking, but over time, I noticed something interesting—I was becoming more confident. That tiny action, repeated over and over, was rewiring my brain to act instead of overthink.
I figured if it worked socially, why not apply it to other areas of life?
How I Use It to Beat Procrastination.
1. Schedule Immediately – The moment an idea pops into my head—whether it’s a task, a project, or a goal—I don’t leave it to memory. I immediately create a time block in my calendar. No “I’ll do it later,” no mental clutter.
2. Use Plantie- Stay Focused – When it’s time to work but I find myself glued to my phone, I open the Plantie app (You can get iIt is similar to Forest, BUT this is free). It’s a simple focus tracker—if you leave the app to scroll social media, your virtual plant dies. That little consequence keeps me accountable. Once I’ve switched to Plantie, I grab my laptop and start working in 30-minute focused sessions with 5-minute breaks.
Since I started using this system in early November 2024, my productivity has skyrocketed. Tasks that used to sit in my head for days now get done immediately. The gap between thinking and doing is shrinking.
