Hi friends,
It is good seeing you again in this issue of LifeHighlights. Have you ever been asked to really imagine your best year ever? Like, actually closing your eyes and picturing it—not just what you think you should want, but what your dream life would honestly look like? That was the highlight that grabbed my attention this week. It is a highlight from Million Dollar Weekend by Noah Kagan, and right there, almost like a side note, it stared at me in my email inbox: “Imagine your best year ever. Close your eyes.” Simple, right? But whoa—that hit differently this time.
I’ve been a reader for as long as I can remember (like, since the first time I picked up a book and realized letters made words 😅). But it’s only since 2023 that I started reading consciously—you know, not just flipping pages, but trying to actually apply what I read to my life. And when I got to this highlight of the book, I realized I’d never really done it. Sure, I’d dreamed about an awesome life in vague, someday terms, but I hadn’t taken time to imagine how I’d want to live every single year.
That question—what would my best year ever look like?—gave me this strange sense of excitement, like being handed a magic wand. But it also felt overwhelming. Living with a vision sounds great on paper and words, but honestly? It can be really hard to do. Our day-to-day routines can blur our big dreams into the background noise of errands, bills, and TikTok scrolling.
What made it easier for me was answering one simple question: “What life do I want for myself?” That one question turned a fluffy daydream into something real. Like, if I could clearly picture the life I’d wake up to five years from now—where I live, what I do each day, who I spend time with—it became a roadmap. Suddenly, I wasn’t just reacting to life; I was designing it. And it’s wild how much clarity came from that. It was like wandering in a dense jungle, thinking I’d be lost forever, and then—bam!—someone hands you a map. The relief, the hope, the sense of direction… it’s all there.
Here’s the kicker: this wasn’t my first reading of Million Dollar Weekend. The first time I flipped through it late last year, I totally missed this part. I had the general idea of a dream life, sure—but this time, it felt like someone switched on a light in a dark room I didn’t even know I was standing in. And wow, it made me realize how sometimes we need to hear things more than once—or in the right moment—before it finally clicks.
After I sat down with that question, I noticed a shift. I wasn’t just scribbling random goals like “get fit” or “make more money.” Instead, I asked: if my best year includes spending more time with my girlfriend, am I making space for my relationship now? If my dream life means creating inspiring content, am I honing my skills today? That clarity was everything. It turned wishful thinking into steps I could actually take.
Why am I sharing this with you? Because I’ve always believed that learning isn’t something we do alone. It’s better when we grow together—when we share what we read, hear, or experience. My hope is that something from what I’m learning helps you too, or at least gets you curious about what your best year could look like.
So here’s my gentle question for you this week: What’s your dream month, quarter, or year? What does it look like when you close your eyes and imagine it—down to the mornings, evenings, and weekends? And once you’ve pictured it, what’s one small thing you can do today to start steering your life toward that vision?
I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s dream—and build—our best years together. And here’s a quote to keep us inspired;
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
